Description
1 Day – Textile edge finishing, whipping and associated overlocking machine use and techniques’ brief overlook at other types of edge finishing products and methods, including on site methods and products that can be applied by hand.
Day 1 – 9.00am – 5.00pm
- Identify different types of textile product, what methods of edging would suit the product.
- Yarn identification, natural and synthetic yarns, ping testing
- Yarn selection, bcf, single ply and multiple ply yarns to suit textile products.
- Antifray products, edge sealer & backing stabilisation.
- Whipping machine overview, how the machine works
- bonded nylon and extruded nylon threads
- loading thread spools, threading the machine
- Loading yarn, how to prevent snags for smooth feed
- Setting the three tensions & how to adjust tension posts.
Lunch Break
- General machine usage going around corners and internal angles, what are the different machines limits.
- Creating stair templates
- Whipping practice
